For laboratory cleanroom projects, safety always comes first, and knowing the right safety rules matters.

1. Eating, drinking and smoking are strictly prohibited in a laboratory cleanroom, and no chemicals may be taken by mouth. Wash your hands after finishing an experiment.

2. When using flammable, explosive, corrosive or toxic chemicals and electrical equipment, follow the operating procedures strictly. Handle electrical equipment with great care — never switch on a breaker or an appliance with wet hands. Do not use any instrument with current leakage, to avoid electric shock. Cut off the power after use.

3. Know where fire-fighting equipment is stored and how to use it. In case of an accident, take the appropriate measures immediately.

4. When using strongly corrosive reagents such as chromic acid cleaning solution, concentrated acids or concentrated alkalis, never let them splash onto your skin or clothes. If you encounter concentrated acids, or toxic or irritating gases or liquids during an experiment, work inside a fume hood. When heating liquid in a test tube, never point the mouth of the tube at anyone, and never look down into a container being heated.

Note: safety is a prerequisite for a laboratory to operate normally. Only by mastering the four points above can hidden risks be avoided. Safety should also be taken into account during laboratory cleanroom fit-out — choose suitable materials — and later maintenance and servicing are equally important.
